(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump has confirmed that Sean "Diddy" Combs requested a pardon on his prostitution-related felony convictions.

"A lot of people have asked me for pardons," Trump told journalists in the Oval Office on Monday. "I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon."

Combs’ attorneys did not immediately return a request for comment from NewsNation.

Diddy’s legal team requests he serve prison sentence at Fort Dix

The music producer was sentenced to four years and two months last week after being convicted in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act.

Combs was the center of a months-long trial earlier this year, which put his clout and celebrity in focus around accusations of human trafficking and prostitution.

He was acquitted of larger racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

Trump said he will ‘speak to the DOJ’ about Ghislane Maxwell pardon request

The president’s comments regarding Combs came amid questions on whether he would pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein.

“I wouldn't consider it or not consider. I don't know anything about it, but I'll speak to the DOJ (Department of Justice)," Trump said. “I have to ask DOJ. I didn't know they rejected it. I didn't know she was even asking for it.”

Epstein’s co-conspirator was convicted in 2021 for her part in the sex trafficking of minor females for 20 years in federal prison after her arrest in Manhattan in 2019.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal from Maxwell. Her lawyers had argued that she never should have been tried or convicted for her role in luring girls to be sexually abused by Epstein.
