(NewsNation) — Police are searching for a suspect after a couple was killed while hiking at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas.
Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were hiking in the park on Saturday with their two daughters, ages seven and nine, when they were attacked.
The two girls were not injured and are now in the care of family members.
The Arkansas State Police were notified of a double homicide Saturday afternoon and found the Brinks dead on a walking trail.
The suspect is described as a white man of medium build who was wearing a long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap and sunglasses. He had a black backpack and was wearing fingerless gloves.
The suspect was seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with the license plate covered by electrical or duct tape. He may have traveled on State Highways 170 or 220 near the park.
The area where the crime occurred has thick vegetation and no cellphone service. Portions of the park remain closed due to the investigation.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil’s Den State Park. Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority, and we are working closely with Arkansas State Police and various law enforcement officials as the investigation continues," said Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Shea Lewis.
Investigators are asking anyone who was at the park on Saturday to check cellphone pictures and video for footage that could include the suspects.
Those living in the area around the park are also being asked to notify police if they have security or game camera footage of the area.
Police are asking anyone with photos or video that may show the suspect not to post it on social media because doing so could jeopardize the investigation.
Anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts should contact ASP at (479) 751-6663.
