Ozzy Osbourne joined Black Sabbath for final show weeks before death

(NewsNation) — Ozzy Osbourne's final concert, just weeks before his death, was the highest-grossing charity concert of all time, raising $190 million for charities that included a children's hospital.

The show was filmed and is also set to be released in theaters next year.

Osbourne joined Black Sabbath on stage, the first time the group's original lineup had performed together in 20 years.

An icon in the heavy metal world known for shocking actions, Osbourne achieved wider recognition after the reality show "The Osbournes," which focused on the life of his family and showed him in a softer light.

The "Back to the Beginning" concert in Birmingham, England, served as a tribute to Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Proceeds from the concert were divided between Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorn Children's Hospice.

Osbourne went public about his diagnosis with Parkinson's disease in 2020, one of several health setbacks he experienced. He performed seated on a black throne due to health problems.

Hosted by Jason Momoa with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello as music director, the show included appearances from artists including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Slayer, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith.

Osbourne said the show would be his final performance because of his health issues.
