Police have arrested a man at the airport over a false bomb threat he made to airline staff and possession of weapons.
Police at the Hong Kong International Airport on July 13, 2026. Photo: Internet.Officers were called to the Hong Kong International Airport at around 8.30pm on Monday after an airline employee reported a man, who was arguing with the carrier’s staff, saying there was a bomb in his son’s suitcase.
When officers arrived, they found a stun gun, a switchblade and two suspected e-cigarettes on the 47-year-old man.
He was arrested on suspicion of violating the Aviation Security Ordinance, possessing an offensive weapon, possessing imitation firearms and possessing Part 1 poison.
The man was released on bail.

A photo shared on Facebook and published by local media outlets showed around a dozen police officers at the HK Express check-in counters at the airport.
