(NewsNation) — Anne Burrell's cause of death has been revealed weeks after she was found in her shower in her Brooklyn, New York home.
The Food Network star died by suicide, NewsNation has learned.
According to the New York City medical examiner, the Food Network star died from “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine and amphetamine.”
Burrell was reportedly found unconscious and unresponsive in the shower in June, surrounded by around 100 assorted pills, according to the New York Times.
A 911 call report into the investigation of her death showed that someone called emergency services before 8 a.m. on June 17, concerned for her well-being. When officers arrived, they found Burrell unresponsive.
Burrell was best known for hosting Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” but started her television career as a sous-chef to Mario Batali on “Iron Chef America.”
The final season of the show will air July 28, where viewers will see the late chef up against Italian chef Gabe Bertaccini to help turn amateur cooks into professionals.
She was 55 at the time of her death.
