(NewsNation) — Erika Kirk gave a tearful tribute to her husband in her first remarks since Charlie Kirk was assassinated Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University.

"Two days ago, my husband Charlie went to see the face of his Savior and his God. Charlie always said that when he was gone, he wanted to be remembered for his courage and his faith," Erika Kirk said.

"Now and for all eternity, he will stand at his Savior's side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr."

What we know about Tyler Robinson, suspect in Charlie Kirk killing

Kirk married Charlie on May 8, 2021, and had a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son with him.

"I will never ever have the words to describe the loss I feel in my heart," Kirk said. "... Our world is filled with evil, but our God is so good, so incredibly good."

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and booked into a Utah jail after being taken into custody late Thursday night, around 10 p.m. local time, after confessing to his father.

Speaking of the killer, Erika Kirk said, "If you thought my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have unleashed across this entire country, the fire you have ignited."

Erika Kirk made special mention of President Donald Trump "and his incredible family," as well as Vice President JD Vance and wife, Usha Vance.

She thanked authorities for finding the suspected assassin, "so he can be brought to justice," as well as first responders, the Turning Point USA board, and its employees.

Erika Kirk said Turning Point USA's campus tour will continue this fall, so too will Charlie Kirk's radio and podcast shows.

"My husband's voice will remain, and it will ring out louder and more clearly than ever, and his wisdom will endure," she said.

Kirk told her 3-year-old daughter, Gigi, that her father has gone on a work trip with Jesus Christ. She concluded by saying, "May God bless you all and God bless America."
