Active shooter reported at Fort Stewart, base under lockdown

(NewsNation) — An active shooter has been confirmed at Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Georgia, according to NewsNation affiliate WSAV.

A portion of Fort Stewart is on lockdown and those in the 2nd Army Brigade area are told to stay inside, close and lock all windows and all doors.

The areas of the base impacted include Wright and Evans Army Airfield.

Army officials put the lockdown in place around 11 a.m.
