PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) -- A family of two adults and three children was killed in an overnight house fire in New Jersey, according to Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh.
The victims were recovered from the second floor of a Paterson home at 15 Emerson Ave. just before 10 p.m. on Friday night, fire officials said. Among them are a 39-year-old father, a 38-year-old mother, a 14-year-old, a 12-year-old, and a 7-year-old.
(Credit: LoudLabs)Despite firefighters making an aggressive attempt to battle the flames, the fire spread rapidly through the home because of heavy winds, Chief Alicea reported. Additionally, 11 residents in the area were also displaced by the fire.
Officials were not yet able to provide any details on the identity of the victims or the cause of the fire.
