20 victims reported after Minnesota Catholic school shooting

(NewsNation) — Authorities in Minneapolis responded to an active shooter situation at a church and Catholic school Wednesday morning.

The shooter has been contained and there is no threat to the community, officials confirmed. People are being advised to avoid the area.

The Associated Press reported that students were being evacuated, according to a person who answered the phone at the school. A reunification area has been set up for families and students.

The ATF confirmed that agents are responding to an active shooter situation at Annunciation Church. FBI agents are also on the way to the scene. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said he has been briefed on the situation.

Annunciation School serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Classes began on Monday and the school was scheduled to have an all-school mass on Wednesday morning.

Yesterday, six people were shot and one killed outside Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, located four miles away from Annunciation.
